VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Gambians to fill the following vacant positions available at the Department of Agriculture - Cape Point, Banjul.

JOB TITLE: Principal Communication Officer, Grade 10

Number of vacancies: (10 positions)

QUALIFICATION:

Direct Entry:

 

  • Candidate must have a Masters Degree in Mass Communication, Rural Development, Extension Communication or any related Social Science discipline with at least three (3) years of experience with IEC service delivery.

 

In-direct Entry:

  • Must serve satisfactorily as a Senior Information Education Communication (IEC) officer for at least 2 years.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manages human, financial, and material resources of the Communication, Extension, and Education Services (CEES)
  • Develop the human resources
  • Assist in the co-ordination of intra-departmental CEES activities
  • Advise Management on agriculture-oriented CEES issues
  • Prepare annual work plans and budgets
  • Assist in the mobilization of funds for the CEES
  • Prepare quarterly and annual progress reports
  • Ensure timely and adequate provision of equipment and materials for timely production of reports
  • Assist in the co-ordination of intra-departmental CEES activities
  • Edit sound for radio, using digital devices
  • Edit picture and sound for television and video, using computerized editing console
  • Assist in the publication of scripts and articles
  • Assist in the publication and dissemination of research findings
  • Develop and production of thematic theatre programs
  • Develop programs for the national radio and television

 

SALARY

The salary attached to the post is Grade 10 of the Government Integrated pay scale i.e.D84, 651 (Eighty four thousand, six hundred and fifty-one dalasi) per annum.
